From the Pen of Shafiqul Ummah Hadhrat Moulana Muhammad Farooq (Rahimahullah)
- This is a journey of love. Do not disobey the One for whose sake we are travelling.
- Leave behind your comforts, meal preferences and anger.
- Use your tongue, ears and eyes correctly, and guard them at all times. Let your speech be sweet and gentle. Keep your tongue moist with Zikr and remain in the state of Wudhu as much as possible. In Makkah al-Mukarramah recite the Third Kalimah abundantly, and in Madinah al-Munawwarah engage abundantly in Durood Shareef.
- Do everything purposefully and with focus, solely for the pleasure of Allah Ta‘ala.
- Adhere to the Sunnah practices throughout your journey.
- Once you have fulfilled your responsibilities to your travel companions, seclude yourself and engage in Dua, Zikr, Tilawah of the Qur’an, Nafl Salah, Durood Shareef, Istighfar and Tawaf. Also, take care of your health.
- Do not occupy yourself unnecessarily with the matters of others. Anger destroys a person, while gentleness wins hearts.
- Consider serving fellow Hujjaj as a means of immense reward and salvation. Never regard such service as a wasted effort. Refrain from deceiving or inconveniencing others.
- In times of difficulty, make fervent Dua. Recite Surah ‘Alam Nashrah’ and Surah ‘Li Ilaafi Quraysh.’ Constantly maintain the awareness that Allah is watching you — “My Allah is watching me.” Practice this regularly.
- Do not waste your precious time in bazaars, on the telephone, or on unnecessary messaging and social media.
- Abstain from criticising the residents of the Haram. Respect every aspect and article of those sacred lands.
- Be patient over the heat and discomfort you experience. Do not complain about the conditions or the place.
- Glance at the Ka‘bah and the Green Dome with eyes of love, reverence, and honour.
- Visit Madinah al-Munawwarah with the intention of meeting the Master, Hadhrat Muhammad ﷺ.
- Do everything calmly. Do not be hasty or rush, lest others be inconvenienced by your actions.
- Have complete conviction in your forgiveness on the Day of Mount Arafat. Be convinced: “Indeed, my Allah has forgiven me.”
