Friday is an exceptionally rewarding day for a Muslim. It is regarded to be the best of all days with extraordinary opportunities for reward and to gain proximity to Allah Ta’ala. To earn this reward, there are prescribed practices for this day and night which should be adhered to.
The following reward is recorded in the Hadith for reciting Surah Dukhaan (Chapter 44) :
Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (Radiyallahu anhu) reports that Nabi (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said, “Whoever reads Surah Haa-Meem Dukhaan on a Thursday night, his sins will be forgiven.” [Tirmizi # 2889]
Hadhrat Abu Umaamah (Radiyallahu anhu) narrates that Nabi (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said, “He who recites Haa Meem Dukhaan on a Thursday night Allah Ta’ala will build for him a house in Jannah.” [Majmauz Zawaid #3017]
The recitation of Surah Yaseen (Chapter 36) on the night of Jumuah (Thursday night) has tremendous merit :
Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu anhu) narrates that Nabi (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said, “He who recites Surah Yaseen on the night of Friday (i.e. Thursday night) will be forgiven.” [At Targheeb wat Tarheeb # 1100]
