When our plans come to ‘naught’

Throughout this pandemic, Allah Ta’ala is teaching humanity faith and conviction. The global upheaval has come to inform us of our unworthiness and to demonstrate the true power of Allah Ta’ala.

We have planned so much, yet in a flash, everything changes. These trials are veiled by success and progress. Through these difficult days, we gain the Ma’rifat (recognition) of Allah Ta’ala. We learn that our ideas and plans have no substance, but it is the grand plan of Allah Ta’ala that prevails.

A Believer does not become despondent with conditions. Our reward for the good deeds we had planned is secured based on our intentions, so there is no need for us to complain and be disheartened. Resign ourselves to the order of Allah Ta’ala. Place our full trust in Allah Ta’ala and have firm belief that there is a good outcome that awaits us. There is beauty in what Allah Ta’ala decides.

This world is a place of struggles, uncertainty, and upheavals. We will undergo these challenges which come to demonstrate the Greatness of Allah Ta’ala. If, through these trials, we learn the recognition of Allah Ta’ala and recognise our insignificance, then we have gained a lot. The benefit will be far more than what we could achieve through our plans and ideas. It can be even more than what we could achieve through our Ibadat and worship.

Allah Ta’ala says,  “Perhaps you dislike something and it is good for you, And perhaps you love something and it is harmful for you. Allah knows while you do not know.” (Surah Baqarah – Verse 216)

May Allah Ta’ala safeguard our Iman and grant us understanding.
